Growing up, my father’s hobby was exploring his family history, taking his paternal line way back to the early 16th Century, therefore many a weekend in my childhood was spent in graveyards all over the country, whilst he checked out Parish and other records, which he needed to consult to enable him to journey further back in his tree.
His interest manifested itself in me as an adult, prompting me to proceed on the journey of discovery about my maternal line, encouraged by various members of my mother’s family who were also interested but either did not know where to start or did not have the time.
This, in turn, led me to start helping other family members and friends when they were stuck and did not know where to go next or when they simply hit a brick wall and could not knock it down.
Realising that I could turn this hobby, which I felt passionate about, into a profession I decided to find the best way forward.
